About the program

Implemented in Brazil in 2000, Shell Youth Initiative (Shell Iniciativa Jovem) is the Brazilian version of Shell’s global entrepreneurship incentive program called LiveWIRE.

Present in 17 other countries, this initiative supports young entrepreneurs to develop sustainable businesses, promoting local economic development.

Audience

We are looking for people living in Rio de Janeiro aged between 20 and 34, who have completed high school and who have an entrepreneurial mindset and behavior.

ODS

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, are a universal call to action against poverty, for the protection of the planet and to ensure universal access to peace and prosperity. All goals are interconnected, meaning that the success of one SDG involves addressing issues associated with another objective.

Mission

Develop entrepreneurs aware of their role in society, support inspiring projects and the design of business models for ethical, sustainable and economically viable companies in the market in order to generate impact and promote changes in society.

Vision

To be the largest network of entrepreneurs committed to innovation and sustainable development in Brazil.

Objective

Through the training of young business leaders committed to building a better Brazil, we seek to foster entrepreneurship and the culture of sustainability, aiming at supporting the local socioeconomic development and promoting a fair, ethical and sustainable way of doing business.

Stages

The Shell Youth Initiative Program is continuous and each class lasts 12 months, from the selection process to the legalization of the projects. The program is divided into three stages:

Awards

  • UBI Index

    The UBI Index is a Swedish research institution that evaluates and collects the best incubators in the world and that every 2 years awards the best placed in the ranking. In 2018, we were elected the 1st best entrepreneurship support agent in Brazil and the 3rd best in the world. And in 2014, we were the 2nd best in Brazil and 4th in Latin America.

  • Honor Motion of the City Council of Rio

    We received the motion of honor from the City Council of Rio de Janeiro for spreading a conscious way of doing business, focused on social and corporate responsibility.

  • UBI Global 2019

    UBI Global awards the best incubators and accelerators in the world. In 2019, Shell Youth Initiative ranked # 5 in the World Top Private Business Accelerators World category.

  • Unesco Stamp

    We won the seal of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) which considers that the project contributes to increase the active participation of young people in society by promoting greater social inclusion and youth protagonism.
